Verizon cable cut by construction crew paralyzes air traffic control, hundreds of US flights
On Monday, a construction crew in New Jersey accidentally severed a Verizon fiber optic cable used by the FAA's air traffic control system. The outage caused cancellations and delays of hundreds of flights, particularly at airports in the northeastern US. FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said the circuit failure led to discovery of the damaged cable.
