Cut fiber optic cable paralyzes flights at New York and Philadelphia airports
Damage to a Verizon fiber optic cable — severed by construction workers — caused chaos at airports in New York and Philadelphia. FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said repairs would take 13 hours; hundreds of flights were cancelled during that time. Verizon said it is working to fix the outage "as quickly as possible".
