EU decided to lift sanctions on oligarchs Usmanov and Fridman

Ambassadors of EU member states agreed to remove Russian businessmen Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the EU sanctions list. Both have been under sanctions since February 28, 2022. The decision is part of a broader compromise on extending EU sanctions against thousands of other Russian individuals and entities. Removing both oligarchs from the list is meant to enable agreement on continuing the entire sanctions regime.
