Google fined 403 million euros for illegal use of location data

Ireland's data protection authority imposed a 403 million euro fine on Google for improper use of user location data in 2018–2020. The decision was issued on behalf of the European Union under GDPR rules. The European Consumers Organization criticized the eight-year delay in issuing the decision, saying such a long delay may be "equally harmful as lack of law enforcement".
