Scientists: seven of nine planetary boundaries exceeded at record levels
An annual scientific report showed that seven of nine so-called planetary boundaries — indicators of Earth's health established in 2009 — are breached at the highest level ever recorded. Life-support systems on the planet have undergone the worst deterioration in the history of measurements due to pollution and habitat destruction. Scientists warn that Earth is moving beyond the "safe operating space" for life.
