Epigenetic editing eliminates hepatitis B virus

Researchers developed an "epigenetic editing" technique that uses chemical markers to block viral DNA hidden in host cell genomes. In a study published in Nature, the method successfully neutralized hepatitis B virus (HBV) by permanently silencing it rather than destroying the viral DNA itself. This is potentially a breakthrough in treating chronic HBV.
