Saudi Arabia halts oil shipments to Europe; Norwegian crude hits record prices
Saudi Aramco told European buyers it will not deliver oil under long-term contracts next month — following drone attacks on September 10–11 that prompted Riyadh to close the 1,200 km East–West pipeline capable of transporting up to 7 million barrels daily. European refineries scrambled for North Sea shipments, pushing the premium on Norwegian Johan Sverdrup crude to record levels. The pipeline was a key alternative to transit through the Strait of Hormuz, especially after tanker traffic was restricted during the US–Iran conflict.
