Researchers in Gothenburg create new diamond variant with 3D porous structure

Researchers at the University of Gothenburg have for the first time produced physical samples of a new allotropic form of carbon with a three-dimensional, porous structure resembling diamond. The existence of this material had been discussed only theoretically for about 35 years. The breakthrough opens new possibilities in materials science.
