Transport noise kills 66,000 Europeans yearly, EEA report finds

According to the European Environment Agency's "Environmental noise in Europe 2025" report, prolonged exposure to transport noise causes approximately 66,000 premature deaths annually in Europe, 50,000 new cases of cardiovascular disease, and 22,000 cases of type 2 diabetes. Noise was ranked one of three major environmental health threats — alongside air pollution and extreme temperatures.
