Russia holds parliamentary elections on annexed Ukrainian territory

For the first time, Russia has extended parliamentary voting to Ukrainian regions illegally annexed after the full-scale invasion began more than four and a half years ago. Elections to the State Duma are being held in territories whose annexation is not recognized by the international community. This is another step by Moscow toward formally integrating the occupied areas with Russia.
