Madeira: trail reservations and fees catch tourists by surprise

Since the start of the year, Madeira has required advance reservation and payment to access popular hiking trails PR. Despite the new rules being in place for months, many tourists only learn about them after arriving on the island. Without a ticket purchased in advance, entry to the trail is denied.
