China builds mothership for underwater combat drones

Satellite imagery reveals construction at the Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai of a vessel roughly 200 m long that analysts identify as the world's first carrier of unmanned underwater vessels. The ship is to feature a bottom loading hatch and a hangar for four XLUUV-class underwater drones, each 35–45 m long. The internal dock measures roughly 340 m. Japanese analyst KAROTASU released the images on 13 September; Beijing has not officially confirmed the ship's existence.
