Third rabies outbreak in Lublin region: wild fox in Marysin

The Lublin Regional Veterinary Officer reported on 17 September 2026 the detection of a third rabies outbreak in Lublin Voivodeship. An infected wild fox was found in Marysin village, Telatyn municipality, Tomaszów county. Rabies is a fatal zoonotic disease; the red fox remains its primary carrier in Poland. The Veterinary Inspection has taken immediate protective measures.
