EU rejects South Ossetia presidential election as illegal

The European Union does not recognize the presidential election held Friday in the breakaway region of South Ossetia, an occupied territory of Georgia. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated that its result will be deemed invalid. The EU pointed to Moscow's responsibility for the situation in the region.
