France targets 54 billion euro budget savings for 2027

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced that the 2027 budget includes savings of 54 billion euro to curb a growing deficit. Without cuts, the deficit would reach 6.5% of GDP, preventing France from meeting its commitment to the European Commission to reduce it to 3% of GDP by 2029. Rising spending stems from an aging population and increases in healthcare and pension costs. France's debt has grown from 2.3 trillion to over 3.5 trillion euro.
