GUS: medium-sized Polish cities could lose half their residents by 2060
According to GUS population forecasts for 2023–2060, many medium-sized Polish cities face dramatic depopulation. Ostrołęka could lose nearly 34% of its residents — from the current 47.7 thousand to just 31.5 thousand. Similar fate awaits Łomża and other cities in the shadow of metropolises, as working-age people leave for Warsaw, Białystok and other major centers, never returning to their hometowns.
