Over 160,000 Poles draw pensions and benefits from Germany
According to last year's data, over 124,000 Poles receive pensions from the German insurance system, while another 37,000 draw various types of benefits — over 160,000 people in total. By comparison, around 630,000 Polish citizens pay retirement contributions in Germany today, five times more than in 2010. EU rules on coordinating social security systems allow beneficiaries to claim benefits they earned there after returning to Poland.
