EU proposes ban on social media accounts for children under 15 without parental consent

The European Commission has drafted the EU Kids Act, which would prohibit children under 15 from creating accounts on internet platforms without parental consent. The regulations will cover social media, video services, online games, and AI chatbots. Companies must verify users' age and design services with child safety in mind; addictive features such as infinite scrolling will be banned.
