Parliamentary commission to address deepfakes of celebrities in Facebook ads
A parliamentary commission will take up the problem of online fraud in which faces of prominent people — politicians, athletes, businesspeople — are used without consent in ads for fake investments. The scheme resembles the old "grandparent scam," transposed to social media. Artificial intelligence enables the creation of realistic videos in which the person allegedly encourages investment. Victims are primarily those who trust recognizable faces.
