Happy rat: scientists study ultrasound while eating chocolate

Japanese researchers from universities in Fukui, Nagoya and Nara investigated whether rats produce special vocalizations when eating particularly tasty food — milk chocolate. Rats communicate through ultrasounds inaudible to humans, which they use during play, social contact, and while waiting for food. The signals differ in frequency and length, but their exact meaning remains unknown.
