ESA satellites FLEX and Sentinel-3C in orbit to study photosynthesis and oceans
The European Space Agency confirmed on September 15 the successful launch of satellites FLEX and Sentinel-3C aboard a Vega-C rocket from a base in French Guiana. FLEX will be the first ever to measure fluorescence emitted by plants, assessing photosynthesis efficiency on a global scale. Sentinel-3C will join the Copernicus program and continuously monitor oceans, land and atmosphere. Both missions will operate in tandem, delivering unique environmental data.
