Physicists create Bethe strings from six atoms in ultracold gas

Hanns-Christoph Nägerl's team at the University of Innsbruck has for the first time created a mixture of quantum states called Bethe strings in ultracold gas. Bethe strings are objects made of at least six atoms that move together and maintain their structure even during collisions. Their existence was predicted more than a hundred years ago by Hans Bethe, a future Nobel Prize laureate.
