Leaders of Wales, Scotland, N. Ireland: Westminster era ending
First Ministers of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland met in Cardiff at a historic summit and signed a memorandum of understanding, recognizing that "the political landscape on these islands is changing." Leaders of Plaid Cymru, SNP and Sinn Féin, along with Irish opposition, agreed that the Westminster era is ending and announced pursuit of independence referendums. Mary Lou McDonald, president and opposition leader in Ireland, attended the meeting.
