UN Commissioner: advanced AI may threaten human existence

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Tuerk warned Monday that advanced artificial intelligence poses an existential threat to humanity. According to him, AI may "blackmail programmers" and slip beyond human control. Tuerk called for urgent development of binding international principles regulating AI development.
