Melanoma vaccine: oncologist explains what this treatment can and cannot do
Oncologist Kamil Karpowicz explains that a melanoma vaccine is not a preventive measure like a measles vaccine, but a treatment used mainly after surgery to prevent disease recurrence. It does not protect against all cancers and works as an instruction for the immune system on how to recognize cancer cells. So far it is used in limited clinical indications.
