Ferry MV Matui sinks off Vanuatu coast: one dead, over 30 missing

The ferry MV Matui departed Friday from Santo island with more than 40 passengers and crew bound for Ambae island but failed to reach its destination due to severe weather conditions. One person has died and more than 30 are missing. Vanuatu's government confirmed the vessel sank and said a search and rescue operation is underway. The Prime Minister's office extended support to the families of victims.
