Traces of life from 3.5 billion years ago discovered in Indian rocks
Scientists have identified traces of organisms from about 3.5 billion years ago in rocks extracted from India's Singhbhum region — among the oldest on Earth. The discovery is particularly significant because earlier evidence of such ancient life forms relied on indirect dating methods; this time researchers have direct geological material.
