AI lowers barriers to biological weapons, expanding access to knowledge
Latest analyses indicate that artificial intelligence may gradually lower barriers to biological knowledge, design and analysis, shortening the path from concept to creation of a dangerous pathogen. Experts warn the greatest threat is not AI creating a superpathogen, but facilitating successive experimental steps. In response, the USA, UK and EU have begun reconsidering biosecurity as a priority area of national security.
