Rwanda intensifies fight against illegal alcohol after 18 die from methanol poisoning

Rwandan authorities have stepped up action against illegal alcohol following deaths caused by methanol. In Bugesera district, 18 people died in a single day after drinking contaminated beverages. Authorities closed illegal distilleries, confiscated goods and withdrew dozens of alcohol brands from sale.
