New China discovery reveals anatomy of mysterious Denisovians
An international team of researchers examined Bianfu Cave in China's Yunnan province and published results in Nature. The discovery sheds new light on Denisovian anatomy—archaic hominins previously known mainly from remains in Siberia and the Tibetan Plateau. The study fills a gap in the fossil record of southwestern China, a key area for prehistoric hominin migration.
