British Parliament debates euthanasia: MPs share personal stories
The House of Commons is debating a bill to legalize assisted dying in England and Wales for terminally ill adults with a life expectancy under six months, following approval by an expert panel. Labour MP Claire Hazelgrove described how her mother Ruth died alone after half a lifetime fighting a rare blood cancer. Another MP, Ashley Dalton, who has metastatic breast cancer, warned the bill does not adequately protect people with treatable depression who also have terminal illness.
