Germany to require shops to accept cashless payments from 2027

Germany's Finance Ministry is drafting legislation requiring shops, restaurants and service firms to offer customers at least one digital payment method alongside cash. The new rules are to take effect in 2027. The aim is to end situations where sellers accept only cash.
