Archaeological research: Vikings were not as tall as commonly believed

The widespread image of Vikings as tall giants is a myth. Archaeological digs across Europe show that inhabitants of early medieval Scandinavia were not significantly taller than other populations of that era. Analysis of skeletal remains indicates the average Viking had a height similar to other Europeans of the time.
