African swine fever in Tomaszów district: 16 pigs culled in Czartowiec

An outbreak of African swine fever was detected in Czartowiec, in Tyszowce municipality (Tomaszów district). Tests at the State Veterinary Institute in Puławy confirmed ASF after a farmer noticed lethargy and loss of appetite in the animals. All 16 pigs were culled and disposed of, and buildings disinfected. This is the first ASF outbreak this year in farms in Lublin Voivodeship — eight outbreaks in pigs have been confirmed nationwide so far.
