Charged raindrops can damage car paint

Scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research discovered that water droplets flowing down leaves or plastic surfaces accumulate electric charge that can damage vehicle paint. The findings were published in Nature. The discovery may accelerate the development of more effective protective coatings against corrosion of cars, ships and buildings.
