Psilocybin may protect against chemotherapy-induced neuropathy

Research on mice and human tissue suggests that psilocybin — the active substance in hallucinogenic mushrooms — protects against peripheral neuropathy, painful nerve damage that is a common side effect of chemotherapy. The results are promising enough that scientists are launching a phase two clinical trial in humans this year.
