Astronomers discover binary star system formed just 60 years ago

Astronomers have identified two large, young stars that merged into a binary system just 60 years ago and are still being born. The discovery was made through observations with the ALMA radio telescope. The find is exceptional because astronomers can for the first time track such an early stage of binary system formation.
