ECB raises rates by 25 basis points citing Middle East conflict

The Governing Council of the European Central Bank decided Thursday to raise interest rates in the euro area by 25 basis points. In its statement, the ECB indicated that the Middle East conflict "continues to exert inflationary pressure". The bank assessed simultaneously that the euro area economy "has proven resilient".
