Lasker Awards honor sleep researchers, hemophilia breakthrough, Michael J. Fox

The Lasker Awards — often called "America's Nobel" — have gone to scientists who discovered sleep mechanisms and developed a breakthrough hemophilia therapy. Actor Michael J. Fox received the public service award for his decades-long advocacy for Parkinson's research. Each award carries $250,000; the ceremony will be held September 17 in New York. Albert and Mary Lasker founded the Lasker Foundation in 1942.
