USA to buy back $6B in bonds; 30-year yields highest since 2008
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Wednesday the buyback of $6 billion in government bonds to ease a selloff in the debt market. Yields on 30-year bonds reached around 5.2 percent — levels unseen since the 2008 financial crisis. Investors are being deterred from US securities by rising inflation and uncertainty over war with Iran.
