Highest-resolution jet of black hole: 27 years of observation and AI

Astronomers released an animation of the jet from supermassive black hole blazar 3C 345 in the constellation Hercules at the highest resolution ever achieved. The material was created from 116 images collected by the VLBA telescope network between 1995–2022, and artificial intelligence was used to process the data. The jet expels gas at nearly the speed of light, charged with X-ray and gamma radiation. Results were published on August 26 in the journal "Nature".
