Which sins require absolution only from the Vatican?

Canon law stipulates that for certain grave offenses — so-called reserved sins — an ordinary priest cannot grant absolution in the confessional. The decision then rests with the Apostolic See or a bishop appointed by it. This includes profanation of the Eucharist, breach of the seal of confession, and apostasy. Believers are often unaware of these exceptions provided in the canon law code.
