Appeals court to examine case of mother convicted of mutilating daughter for fundraising
The Appeals Court in Lublin will review the case of Monika B. from Łuków municipality, convicted by the District Court in Siedlce to 15 years in prison. The woman poured corrosive liquid on her 9-year-old daughter's face, photographed the injuries, and collected money through online fundraisers claiming to cover the child's treatment. The judge also banned her from contacting her daughter for 10 years. The defendant's lawyer has filed an appeal seeking acquittal or sentence reduction.
