Data breach exposes 220M travelers: nine years of Vietnamese airline records

Researchers at Kinryū Labs discovered in June 2026 a misconfigured Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) database in Vietnam, accessible via an alternative cloud path and secured only with default passwords. The database held 29 indexes totaling approximately 107 GB of data on 220 million passengers and crew members from 2017–2026, including personal data, travel details, passport numbers, seat assignments and baggage information. The archive has been locked, and no evidence of darknet sales has been found so far.
