Google changes search results in EU after billion-dollar fine
Following a 1 billion dollar penalty by the European Union for breaching the Digital Markets Act (DMA), Google is introducing significant changes to its search engine in the European market. Rival services — such as Expedia and Booking.com — will now be able to appear higher than Google's own services when users search for flights or hotels. The company warns that the changes may reduce search quality for European users.
