Scientists: dry regions will cover over 40 percent of land by century's end

The latest scientific forecasts indicate that by the end of the 21st century, the surface area of dry regions on Earth will increase to over 40 percent of land. Earlier forecasts were even more pessimistic — the correction became possible by accounting for the role of carbon dioxide, whose impact had previously been omitted from calculations.
