Lublin University of Technology develops springs 70% lighter than steel
A team led by Dr. Eng. Patryk Jakubczak at Lublin University of Technology developed springs made from polymer composites reinforced with carbon, glass, or aramid fibers. They are up to 70% lighter than steel equivalents while maintaining similar mechanical properties. The unconventional design allows for adjusting stiffness and deformation — companies plan to begin testing the new solution soon.
