Polish woman fed the needy in Canberra for 40 years. A monument was erected

Stanisława Dąbrowski, known as the "Soup Kitchen Lady" or "Mother Teresa of Canberra," for nearly 40 years after arriving in Australia in 1964 distributed free soup, bread and drinks to the needy in Canberra. Though the local community held her in enormous esteem, she herself downplayed her actions, saying "It's just soup." A monument to her was unveiled in the Australian capital.
