Vitamin U in cosmetics: dermatologist explains how it works on skin
Vitamin U, or S-methyl-methionine (SMM), is a derivative of the amino acid methionine—not a vitamin in the classical sense. Dermatologist Dr. Barbara Pytrus explains that this substance shows soothing, regenerating and skin-barrier-strengthening properties. It is most often recommended for people with sensitive, irritated and weakened skin. More and more cosmetic brands are including it in their formulas.
