Japanese transistor withstands 600°C, potential use on Venus probes

Japanese scientists have built a JFET transistor that operates normally at temperatures from room temperature to 600°C (1112°F). The device could be used in probes landing on Venus's surface, where atmospheric temperature reaches 460°C. Current transistors used in space missions cannot withstand such extreme thermal conditions.
